Men's Gold Jewellery in Dubai: Chains, Rings, Bracelets
Which men's gold to buy first in Dubai: a Cuban chain, ID bracelet or signet in 18K. Weights in grams, wrist and ring fit, VAT and what to check.

Start with one 18K piece and buy it by weight: a Cuban link chain for presence, a Cuban or ID bracelet for something on the wrist every day, or a signet ring for something personal. 18K is hard enough for daily wear, and the grams set the gold cost, so compare grams before you compare designs. The weights of the men's gold jewellery we stock in Dubai are below, with how each piece fits and what to check before you pay.
Men's gold chain in Dubai: link, width and weight
The Cuban link, a run of rounded, close-set links that lie flat, is a staple of men's gold chains, and its grams climb fast with width and length. One online jeweller lists solid 18K Cuban chains from 4 mm to 11 mm wide; at 24 inches its 5 mm chain is listed at 59 g and its 6 mm at 80 g, so one extra millimetre adds about a third more gold (Avianne & Co., which notes that listed weights may vary by up to 5 g).
Our Heritage Cuban Link Chain is a polished 18K Cuban link of 26.00 g, and its page describes it as made for everyday wear, alone or layered. That is under half the gold of the 59 g chain above, so compare width and length, not just the link name. Ask us on WhatsApp for its width and length before you order, because a weight means little without both. Typical men's lengths are in our chain length guide.
Men's gold bracelet: Cuban link, ID plate and wrist fit
The 18K ID Bracelet is a Cuban link chain with a polished ID plate, 11.60 g, and its page describes it as solid 18K gold. The two 18K Diamond Cuban Link Bracelets are heavier: 18.25 g with a pavé diamond clasp, and 23.10 g with diamond accents set in the links as well.
To measure a wrist, wrap a soft tape just below the wrist bone, snug but not tight. Jaxxon, a men's jewellery brand, advises adding about 1.3 cm (half an inch) for a standard fit and up to 2.5 cm (an inch) for a looser drape (Jaxxon's bracelet size guide), so an 18 cm wrist suits roughly 19.3 to 20.5 cm. The bracelet should move a little without sliding over the hand. The complimentary first resizing is listed for rings and bangles, so ask about a bracelet's length before you order.
Men's gold ring: signets and sizing
Our four 18K signets, in the gold rings collection, are slim and light: pear 1.55 g, hexagon 1.72 g, oval 1.82 g and heart 2.08 g, each in the size shown on its page. Their faces take hand engraving at the boutique, and our signet ring guide covers shape, finger and engraving. If he wants a broader, heavier face, ask about a bespoke signet in 18K, 21K or 22K gold: we design it with you and share a 3D preview first.
To size a ring for a man, measure the knuckle and the base of the finger and choose a size between the two, so the ring clears the knuckle without spinning at the base. Measure in the evening, never when your hands are cold. A band wider than 6 mm sits tighter, so go up half a size; our ring size guide has the method. The first resizing is complimentary, though rings with continuous patterns or full pavé have limits.
Which karat for men's gold: 18K, 21K or 22K
18K is 75% pure gold (fineness 750), 21K is 87.5% (875) and 22K is 91.6% (916). The higher the karat, the deeper the yellow and the softer the metal, so scratches show sooner. For anything worn daily, 18K is the practical choice, and it is the karat of every chain, bracelet and signet above. 21K suits a statement ring worn with care; 22K is better kept for occasions. The full comparison is in 18K, 21K or 22K.
Grams as the budget: how the price builds up
Gold is priced by weight: grams multiplied by the rate for the karat, plus a making charge for the craftsmanship, plus 5% VAT, the UAE's standard rate (UAE Ministry of Finance). The per-gram figure is on the 18K gold rate page, which has a calculator for any weight. The rate is the same for every 18K piece, so grams are the fair way to compare: the 26.00 g chain holds about 2.2 times the gold of the 11.60 g ID bracelet, before making charges. The diamond bracelets also carry the stones.
| Piece | Weight on our pages | The look |
|---|---|---|
| Heritage Cuban Link Chain | 26.00 g | Polished 18K Cuban link |
| 18K ID Bracelet | 11.60 g | Cuban link, polished ID plate |
| 18K Diamond Cuban Link Bracelet | 18.25 g or 23.10 g | Pavé diamond clasp; 23.10 g adds diamond accents on the links |
| 18K signet rings | 1.55 to 2.08 g | Pear, hexagon, oval, heart |
What to check before you pay
- Solid or hollow. Hollow links weigh less for the same width, so a chain can look wide yet hold little gold, and it dents and is harder to repair. Ask, and compare grams only between chains of the same build.
- Solder joins. Look along the links in good light. Joins should be flush and the same colour as the link, with no gaps or lumps.
- Clasp. Open and close it several times. It should snap shut firmly and feel as strong as the links.
- Karat stamp and paperwork. Look for the karat stamp (18K or 750) and an invoice stating karat and weight. Every Mazimo piece is stamped with its karat and sold with a certificate of purity, and the tracking code on the invoice opens the certificate online.
Wearing it in Dubai
Wear one wide Cuban alone, or layer two chains of different widths at lengths far enough apart not to tangle. Put jewellery on last and take it off first, and remove it for the gym, the pool and the sea: perfume, hairspray, chlorine and sea water dull gold. Wear a bracelet on the opposite wrist to a watch, since a polished plate marks against a case, and store each piece separately.
Buying gold jewellery for him in the UAE
Check first that he likes wearing gold: some men prefer other metals, for personal or religious reasons. If he does, a chain needs no size, a bracelet needs his wrist and a ring needs his finger. To size a ring in secret, lay one he already wears on a ruler and read the inside diameter. If you cannot get a measurement, buy the chain.
Settle the size first and engrave last. Rings are hand engraved at the boutique with an initial, a date or a short line, and we show the layout before any mark is made; for the ID plate or any other piece, message us with what you have in mind first. Engraved and resized pieces cannot be exchanged, though they stay under the lifetime warranty on craftsmanship. An unworn piece in its original packaging can be exchanged within 48 hours of delivery, for another piece or store credit. Every order leaves in the black Mazimo box with a certificate of purity, and delivery across the UAE is insured and complimentary.
Questions people ask
What men's gold jewellery should I buy first?
One 18K piece he will wear every day: a Cuban link chain, a Cuban or ID bracelet, or a signet ring. If he wears a watch daily, a chain or signet leaves the wrist free.
How many grams of gold should a men's chain be?
There is no single figure, because grams depend on width, length and whether the links are solid. One online jeweller lists a solid 18K Cuban at about 80 g for 6 mm at 24 inches, while our Heritage Cuban Link Chain is 26.00 g. Fix width and length first, then compare grams like for like.
Is 18K or 21K better for men's gold jewellery?
18K for everyday pieces: it is harder and keeps its edges and polish longer. 21K is a deeper yellow and suits a statement ring worn with care.
Can I exchange a men's gift that does not fit?
Yes, for another piece or store credit, if it is unworn, unengraved and in its original packaging, and you message us within 48 hours of delivery. Engraved and resized pieces are final sale, so confirm the size before engraving.
