Certified Gold in Dubai: What the Certificate Must Say

"Certified" is printed on a lot of windows in Dubai. It means something only when the certificate can be checked. This guide explains what a real certificate contains, how to verify it, and what else to insist on before you pay, in the shop or on a screen.

What the certificate must say

• The seller's legal name and address.
• Each piece described: type, karat, weight in grams to two decimals.
• The rate of the day the piece was priced on.
• The date, the invoice number and a way to verify it.

Four protections to insist on

1. Weighed and tested in front of you. Or, online, weight and karat stated on the product page and on the invoice. Our verification guide covers the tests.
