### Why does each karat have its own rate?

Many times a day, Monday to Friday, as the world market moves. The world market closes on Friday at 17:00 New York time (Saturday 01:00 in Dubai) and reopens on Sunday at 18:00 New York time (Monday 02:00 in Dubai). While it is closed there is no new world price to follow, so the Dubai rate changes little. The day-by-day table on the gold-rate page shows the last figure published on each date, so a Saturday row can differ slightly from Friday's.
